Gallery II: SkyScapes

There is no escaping it. It towers above us and stretches beyond the horizon. It can be a comforting azure blanket or a thunderous swirling mass of darkness. Whatever its disposition of the moment, it wraps the things of the world in an inspiring embrace of color and texture.

Even as a young boy, the sky was interesting to me, with its suggestive cloud shapes and always evolving colors. When I began to make pictures, capturing the texture of the sky's ever-changing moods was an exciting challenge. The sky alone could be an engrossing subject, but I discovered that when combined with the ordinary objects of life, together they could be transformed into rich metaphorical narratives. Thus, my SkyScapes.
